The state College Board is considering tuition increases at Mississippi's eight public universities.
Tuition could go up by as much as 10 percent, according to materials provided by the board.
Board members will discuss tuition Thursday, and could vote on increases May 7.
The average in-state tuition increase would be around $400, with Delta State University asking for at least $293 more from its students and Mississippi Valley State University seeking an additional $498.
Out-of-state students would also see tuition hikes, likely between $161 and $975 for fiscal year 2013, which begins July 1.
By fiscal year 2014, projected tuition increases would have out-of-state students at the University of Mississippi paying $10,960 or more.
Additional increases could be requested if state
funding is cut.
