Funeral services for Doris “Dot” Downey, 86, of Toxey will be held Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 11 A.M. at the Lusk Baptist Church with Rev. Scottie Fulcher, Rev. Clovis Lewis, Rev. Howard Gaston, and Levi Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in the Lusk Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 A.M. until 11 A.M. on Saturday.
Mrs. Downey passed away at her residence Thursday, June 19, 2014.
Survivors include her son Billy Downey (Rita) of Toxey; daughter-in-law Charlotte Downey of Toxey; brother Jerry Brown of North Carolina; sisters Pauline Claro of Montgomery; Christine Daugherty of Mobile; Alice Oliver of Jackson, AL; Georgia McKay of Excell, AL; Eloise Stokes of Excell, AL; Lucille Boyd of Denton, TX; Marie Zent of Organ; five grandchildren Scott Downey, Catina Coody, Jennifer Dees, Frank Downey, and Karen Crosby; thirteen great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents John Coley Brown and Alliene Etheridge Brown, husband Billie Downey, and son Mack Downey.
Pallbearers are Gene Brown, Zack Dees, Frank Downey, Jimmie Tindle, D.J. Coody, and Benjamin Coody.
