John Ray Lovette

John Ray Lovette, 79, passed away August 25, 2010.

He was the son of Ollie Lee and James Clarence Lovette

and the beloved brother to Argie Ruth Fuller, Velma Martin,

JoAnn Scurlock, Reba Lovette and Greg Lovette.

He was preceded in death by his parents,

brother J.C. and a son, John Ray Lovette Jr.

As a young man, Ray served as a Medical Technician

in the U.S. Army during the Korean war.

He served as an MP in the Alabama National Guard.

He graduated from Livingston State University

in Livingston Alabama with a B.S. degree.

He worked over 32 years as an

Industrial and Civil Engineer for

American Can Corp in Butler, Al.

and Georgia Pacific in Crossett, AR,

Along with Ray’s professional career,

he was also a Southern Baptist Minister.

He leaves a wife, Dorothy Henson Lovette,

3 children,

Donnie Lovette, Janet Marie Lovette and Linda Lovette Smart.

4 stepchildren

David Hocott, Susie Ridgeway, Terry Byron and Tom Hocott

4 grandchildren,

Charlotte Lovette, Jessica Roberts-Locke,

SSG Stephen Christopher Fraim and Samantha Marie Fraim

10 step grandchildren

2 great grandchildren,

Gracen Lynn Roberts-Locke and Christopher Hunter Fraim

12 stepgreat grandchildren

A memorial service will be held at Bumpers Funeral Home

302 Vanity Fair Avenue, Butler, Alabama

Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 2 pm

Burial will follow at Pleasant Hills Cemetary
