JOYCE ANN LEE WHITFIELD, age 47, of York, Alabama, born to Carl and Maggie Williams Lee, passed April 29, 2008 at the Lee Family residence.

Funeral services will be Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 11:00 A. M. from Sumter County High School's (SCHS) gymnasium in York. Mrs. Whitfield will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time. Rev. Richard Wilson will be the officiating minister, with interment following in Elmwood Memorial Gardens, Highway 11-East, York. On Friday, (May 2nd) public viewing is scheduled from 3-6:00 P.M. at the Weatherly Funeral Home Chapel at York. The processional will leave from the family's residence, located 904 North Broad Street, on Saturday morning at 10:40 a.m. NOTE: (At the family's request, there will be no repast following the committal service!)

Those left to cherish precious memories are: two daughters- Chiquita Whitfield and LaQuita; a loving devoted mother and friend, Maggie Lee of York, Alabama; her father Carl Lee preceded her in death; (5) five brothers- Robert (Felicia) Lee, Damien Lee, Lorenzo Burrell, Thomas Sparks, and Ron Moore; her brother Jimmy Lee preceded her in death; (11) eleven sisters- Mary Magaline (Steve) Correl, Mary Jane Lee, Dorothy Lee, Stella (Rochester) Anderson, Pamela Lucky, Monica Smith, Janet Wesley, Yolanda Ruffin, Mary Kay Spencer, Kate Jackson, Pamela Mills and Johnnie "Chin" Watson; most of all she leaves a loving companion and true friend, Edward Wallace; many uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers who loved her dearly.

To the Lee-Whitfield Family, Joyce took GREAT care of my parents when they were residents in the Sumter Nrsing Facility. Our family will always remember her kindness. God has picked a beautiful rose from his garden! God bless you all.

I am deeply sorry to hear of the sudden passing of my friend and classmate, I am sorry for your loss, but look to God who strenghtens you, trust in him and he will bring you through, Joyce will truly be missed, God Bless

Joyce Whitfield was a great friend, great co-worker, and trainer for dispatching at the YPD. She will be truely missed, and never forgotten by the lives she has touched. My deepest sympathy goes out to her family and friends. God Bless.
