Mrs. Mary Edd Baker, age 81, of Newton, passed away Saturday, August 01, 2009 at Newton Regional Hospital in Newton. A graveside service was held at the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in Newton on Monday, August 03, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. James F. Webb Funeral Home in Newton was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Baker was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. She was a loving mother who loved to cook, sew, and care for her family and her home. She was employed at an early age with a telephone company in Laurel, and she later worked as an assistant at the Archusa Nursing Home for over 18 years.
Survivors include: two sons: Michael Wayne Hulsey of Austin, TX and Mark Allen (JoLynda) Hulsey of Azle, TX; four daughters: Marcia Lynn (William) Highsmith of Austin, TX, Mary Ellen Hulsey of Bessemer, AL, Marcelle Denise McKinnie of Pueblo, CO and Melinda Kay (William) Walker of Newton; two sisters: Helen Becton of Biloxi, and Eva Caves of Bay Springs; six grandchildren: Keith Walker, Jake (Krystle) Walker, Jim Highsmith, Katie Highsmith, Nicole Highsmith and Chrissy Highsmith; and two great-grandchildren: Jackson Walker and Landen Walker.
She is preceded in death by her Parents: Fred Everett and Esther Lee Davis Nix; 2 brothers: Fred and Lee Davis and one sister Evie Piersol.
Pallbearers included: William (Billy) Walker, Keith Walker, Ras Jones, Chuck Boulton, Jerry Griffen and Dustin Harris.
Honorary Pallbearer was Bill Boulton.
