Mrs. Ida Mae Welch, age 98, of Newton MS, died on Friday 08/07/2009 at Rush Hospital in Meridian, MS. Funeral Services will be held at Lawrence Baptist Church in Lawrence, MS on Monday 08/10/2009 at 10:00am With Rev. George Felton and Rev. Paul DeMoney officiating. The Body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. James F. Webb Funeral Home of Newton, MS is in charge of arrangements. 601-6 83-2152
Mrs. Ida Mae was a resident of Newton, MS since the late 40’s, she was a long time educator, retiring from Newton Elementary School. She was a member of Lawrence Baptist Church, the Retired Teacher’s Association and the Lawrence Home Development Club. She was a loving mother who cared deeply about her entire family.
Survivors include: Paul Welch (Dale) of Starkville, MS and Jimmy Welch (Connie) of Newton, MS; five grandchildren: Regina Lynn Franks (Stacey), James Paul Welch (Leslie) who is currently serving in Iraq, Angie Renee’ Massey, Terry Scott Welch (Tina) and James Dewayne Hamrick (Missy); 12 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband: Utie (Spec) Welch; a daughter, Martha Emma and a son, Larry Rankin Welch.
Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Sunday 08/09/2009 at James F. Webb Funeral Home in Newton, MS.
