James (Jim) B. Scott

James (Jim) B. Scott, 101, formerly a long-time resident of Butler, Alabama and who resided in Meridian, Mississippi for the past four years, passed away at his home on September 26, 2009. Mr. Scott was born in Meridian, Mississippi on August 22, 1908. Services will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at 2:00pm at First United Methodist Church in Butler, Alabama with Rev. Dan Nixon officiating and Eulogy given by granddaughter Andrea Mayfield. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Masonic burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Butler.

Mr. Scott, was manager of Black Warrior Electric Corporation for Choctaw and part of Sumter Co, Alabama, until his retirement in 1973. He was a memeber of the First United Methodist Church of Butler and a member of the Scottish Rites and Gilead Masonic Lodge #9 where he served as a Master Mason for 79 years.

Mr. Scott was well known and dearly loved for his generosity and willingness to help others.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mildred B. Scott, three sons, James K. Scott, (Rayleen), Livingston, AL, Don B. Scott, Meridian, MS, Richard L. Scott, (Peggy), Linden, AL; three daughters, Mary Ella Bateman (Haskell), Meridian, MS, Judith Johnston (Dr. Jim), Auburn, AL, and Rebecca McKenzie (Ronnie), Pennington, AL 22 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Pallbearers are grandsons, Dr. Scott Charlton, Dr. David Scott, Michael Scott, Dr. Alan Scott, Chris Scott, Patrick James, Wesley Scott, and Richard Scott. Honorary Pallbearers are members of Gilead Masonic Lodge #9.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Gilead Masonic Lodge #9 in Butler, AL.
