Ada Plummer Shepherd Doggett “Plum”, age 87 of York, Alabama, died on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Sumter Health and Rehabilitation Center in York, Alabama. A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the York City Cemetery with Reverend David Wilkinson and Rev. John Evangelista officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service at 10:00 a.m. at Bumpers Funeral Home of York.
Mrs. Doggett, a homemaker, was a member of York Baptist Church. She loved her church and worked with many different age groups over the years. In her final years, she found great joy from participating in the Sheila Hull Resident Art Class held at the rehab center. A loving wife, mother of four, grandmother of 12, great-grandmother of 13, and friend to many, she will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched.
Survivors include one daughter: Judy D. Dial (Lindsey); three sons: Tommy Doggett (Patricia), Johnny Doggett (Sandra) and Toby Doggett; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Toby Doggett; one daughter-in-law: Chris Tartt Doggett and two grandchildren: Amy Dial and DeWayne Dial.
Pallbearers are her grandsons and great-grandsons: Tom Doggett, Johnnie Moore, Scott Dawson, Kevin Gordy, Damian Doggett, Ted Doggett, Al Robbins, George Patterson, Phillip Etheridge, Creed Robbins, Benjamin Doggett, Ryan Moore, Dylan Dawson, Johnathan Gordy and Jack Doggett.
