NEWTON -Funeral services for Walter Boutwell, Jr. will be held Sunday, November 29, 2009, at 3:30 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Hal Ethridge officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery with Newton County Funeral Home in Newton in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Boutwell, 76, of Newton, died Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at his home. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, former Sunday School Superintendent, and Sunday School Teacher. He was a retired refrigeration electrician, having been employed with Dairy Fresh, Inc. for over 35 years. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Flaherty Boutwell of Newton; his daughter, Christy Boutwell of Biloxi; and his son, Mike Boutwell of Lawrence; his grandchildren, Alex Boutwell, Morgan Carroll, and Madison Carroll;
He was preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Mamie Williams Boutwell, Sr., and two sisters, Garnett Lockley, and Bertice Wells.

Visitation will be Sunday, November 29, 2009 from 1:30 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church, 1968 Liberty Church Rd., in Newton.
