Gene Richardson, 75, of Meridian, died Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at Infinity Hospice in Marion. Mr. Richardson was born in Columbus, Miss. on May 14, 1934. He departed this life on earth on Monday morning and entered the rewards of Heaven because of his decision late in life to seek forgiveness of his sins through Jesus Christ. He will be greatly missed by his family, but they have assurance they will see him again one day in Heaven. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and worked for 35 years in finance and banking in Meridian and other cities in Mississippi. He was employed at First United Bank in Meridian for years. He graduated from Lee High School in Columbus and received his bachelor's degree from Louisiana Tech. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Gary Dover of Hickory; his daughter and son-in-law, Jimmy and Lana Richardson of Meridian; his seven grandchildren, Michael, Sarah and Tiffany Dover and Devin, Bryce, Tanner and Cole Richardson; the mother of his children, Wray Richardson of Meridian; one brother, James W. Richardson of California; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Percy Richardson and Annie Bell Pace Richardson; his brother, Deal Richardson; his sisters, Birdie Guyton and Bessie Reeves; and his brother-in-law, E.C. Reeves. A private family memorial service will be held the week after Christmas. The family requests that memorial be sent to Gideons to purchase Bibles.
