Johnnie Nelson, Sr., age 83, of Bellamy, Alabama born to the late Jim and Angeline Drake Nelson, passed February 22, 2010 at Woodhaven Manor Nursing Care Facility, Demopolis, Alabama. Combined funeral services will be held along with his sister SARAH NELSON DuBOSE Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. from First Baptist Church, 254 McConnell Street, York, Alabama. Rev. Johnathan Byrd and Rev. Robert E. Pearce, Sr., officiating; Rev. Byrd is church pastor. Interment follows in Ebenezer Cemetery, Whitfield, Alabama. Mr. Nelson will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Friday evening (Feb. 26th) from 3-6:00 P.M. at the WEATHERLY CHAPEL. The processional will leave from WEATHERLY FUNERAL HOME Saturday afternoon at 12:40 p.m.
Those left to cherish precious memories are: Four (4) children- Lillie (John) Smiley, Birmingham, Alabama, Carrie (Freddie) Ross, Livingston, Ala., Johnnie (Janice) Nelson,Jr., Buffalo, N.Y., and Robert Nelson, Sr., Bellamy, Alabama, one adopted daughter, Rosemary Brown, Phoenix, Az., one brother, Jake Nelson, Atlanta, Ga., one sister, Emma Donald, Whitfield, Ala., three (3) brothers-in-law, Dave Studdard, Jr., Cleveland, Ohio, Virgil Studdard, Sr., and Hiawatha E. Studdard, Sr., both of Birmingham, Ala; (17) seventeen grandchildren; thirty-six (36) great grandchildren and one great great grandson; along with many nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
