Helen McMahen of Union, Mississippi , died on March 11, 2010 at her home.
Funeral services will be at Union United Methodist Church on Monday, March 15, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.with burial to follow in the Union City Cemetery. Rev. Len McRaney will officiate.

Mrs. McMahen,was born April 15, 1916 in Philadelphia, Mississippi, the daughter of Jessie Rae Bounds Luke and James Sterrit Luke. She was preceded in death by her husband William Andrew “Dubb” McMahen, Jr. and her brothers, James Sterrit Luke, Jr., Walter Gleason Luke, and Ralph Bounds Luke. Her son-in-law, Dr. Stephen Cornelius Hunter of Columbus, Ga. also predeceased her.
She is survived by her children, William Andrew McMahen, III (Rita) of Jackson, Ms., Melinda McMahen Hunter of Columbus, Georgia, Stephen Luke McMahen (Sandra) of Carthage, Ms. and Michael Ralph McMahen (Susan) of Union. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Stephen Cornelius Hunter, Jr. (Kelly) of Columbus, Ga., Daniel McMahen (Nicki) of West Hartford, Ct., William Andrew McMahen, IV of Johnson City, TN, Ellis Luke McMahen (Casey) of Starkville, Ms., Jessica McMahen Burnett (Lee) of Birmingham, Al., Grace Elaine McMahen of Oxford, Ms, and Bill Bailey of Jackson, Ms.
Her great grandchildren are Madelyn Bailey Reynolds and Cecelia Elizabeth Hunter of Columbus, Ga, and Omer Lee Burnett, IV of Birmingham, Al. Mrs. McMahen is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank our dear cousins, Nona Griffin and Tiny Rash and these friends, Bonnie Taylor, Maggie Smith, Rebecca Milling (deceased), Shirley Gilmer, Lula Roberson, Betty Kelly, Mary Stribling, Hazel Moulds, Martha Terrell, Sonya Robinson and Joann Myers.
Mrs. McMahen graduated from Union High School and Mississippi State College for Women (now Mississippi University for Women) in Columbus, Ms.. She was a long time member of Union United Methodist Church, and was an active member of the Union Methodist Women. She was a long time member of Home and Garden Club.
