Gladys Hunt Carr

Funeral services will be held for Gladys Hunt Carr at 11:00 A. M. on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Newton County Funeral Home - South Chapel with Dr. Brian Rushing officiating.
Burial will be in the Newton Masonic Cemetery.

Newton County Funeral Home South, 100 Old Highway 15 Loop, Newton, MS is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Carr, 86, of Newton, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010, at Woodland Court Personal Care Home.

She was a retired Vice President and Branch Manager for Eastover Bank in Newton. Mrs. Carr was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club in Newton, and active in the Newton Hospital Pink Ladies Auxillary as long as her health permitted. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newton, where she was a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class. A favorite past time that she enjoyed was spending time with her grandchildren, reading, and having coffee time with her family and friends.

Survivors Include: her sons: David (Deborah) Carr of Newton; and Eddie (Charlotte) Carr of Southhaven; her grandchildren: Jessica D. Carr, of Laurel; Betsy Hunt Carr of Oxford; Nicholas N. Carr of Oxford; Sarah Carr (Brian) Dallas of Collierville, TN; Allen Carr of Oxford; Leslie Carr of Starkville;her sisters: Bobbye Brignac of Forest; and Frances Gatewood of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews;

She was preceded in death by: her husband: Albert B. Carr; her brother: Joe Hunt; and her sisters: Christine McCoy and Kathleen Touchstone.

Pallbearers will be Drew Hunt, Van Jones, Jamie Veazey, Billy McCoy, Butch McCoy, and Hiram Gatewood.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Allen Carr and Nicholas Carr.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 297, Newton, MS 39345.

Visitation will be held from 5:00pm - 8:00pm on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the funeral home.
