Graveside services for Plummer Lee Harris will be held Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 10 AM at Louin Cemetery with Bro. William Savell officiating. Newton County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Harris, 96, of Newton, died Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Rush Foundation Hospital.
He was a life long resident of Louin, and attended Louin Baptist Church, as long as his health permitted. He served in the Civil Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. He was a retired school bus driver for the West Jasper School System and was self employed, working in several different occupations, including the long time maintenance keeper of the Louin Cemetery, and other various jobs. He was a long time member of the Mississippi Division Sons of the Confederate Veterans.
Now Plummer Harris has crossed over the river and now rests under the shade of the trees.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Johnnie Jewell Floyd Harris and his parents: Lee Vander and Rosie Smith Harris; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors Include: His Son: Stanley Mitchell Harris of Louin; and His Grand-daughter: Stephanie (Louis P., Sr.) Harris Foley of Newton;
