Services for Emily Carolyn "Kitty" Addkison will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Newton, with the Rev. Brian Rushing officiating. Burial will be in the Newton County Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Newton County Funeral Home South in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Addkison, 85, of Newton, died Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. Mrs. Addkison was a lifelong resident of Newton County and a member of the First Baptist Church of Newton. She and her husband, Roger, were owners of the Sunflower Food Store in Newton for many years.
Survivors include her daughters, Tamara Felman and husband, Phillip, of Mobile, Ala., and Kitty Ward and husband, George, of Newton; sister Rosie McGuffee of Gulfport; grandchildren, Kristi Carolyn McHale and husband, Danny, Tangi McMahon and husband, Ryan, Luke Scoggin and wife, Claudia, and Courtney Sach and husband, Steve; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Addkison; sister Micky Dettman; and brother, Elmo Blackwell.
Visitation will be held today from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the funeral home, and one hour prior to services at the church.
