Martha Butts Evans

Funeral services for Martha F. Evans will be held at 1 P.M. on Monday, July 5, 2010 at Providence Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Jackie Strebeck and Bro. Benny Buckley officiating. Burial will be in Providence Cemetery. Newton County Funeral Home South, 100 Old Highway 15 Loop, Newton, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Evans, 51 of Chunky, died Friday, July 2, 2010 at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. She was born December 26, 1958 in Meridian. She was "Supermom" and was dedicated to her faith, family, and friends. She was a member of Blue Springs Missionary Baptist Church, and attended church services as long as her health permitted. She was especially proud of her two sons, Chas and Nathan, as they serve in the U.S. Army. Favorite past times that she enjoyed included doing crafts, knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking, painting, and taking lots of pictures and doing video making for family, friends, and school events that her children and other family participated in. She loved helping all the kids in the family and spending time with her grandduaghter, Katie, and helping the school, as well as her nieces and nephews through assisting them in their school work and studies. She loved music and let her actions speak for her as she helped others in the church and community. She was loving wife, mother, daughter, aunt and friend.

Survivors Include: her husband: James D. Evans of Chunky; her sons: Chas David (Laura) Evans of Brandon; and Nathan Curtis (Shannon) Evans of Chunky; her mother: Martha Mavis Daniels Butts of Chunky; her sister: Lesia Jean (Jimmy) Swanner of Chunky; her granddaughter: Sara Kathryn "Katie" Evans of Brandon; her two grandchildren on the way -Chas Michael Evans, to be born July 12 and Tatum Addison Evans, to be born November 10; her brother in law: Bill (Dana) Evans, Grenwich, CT her nieces and nephews: Julia, Maggie, Will, and Sarah Evans; Bryan (Rachel) Swanner and Melissa (Scott) Sellers; her great nephews: James Swanner, Dalton Sellers and Caleb Swanner; great niece: Jordan Sellers;

She was preceded in death by her father: Curtis Eldrew Butts

Pallbearers will be: Bryan Swanner, Rusty Minor, John May, Scott Sellers, Matthew Ward, and Curtis Mayes. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 4, 2010, from 4 P.M. - 9 P.M. at the funeral home, and on Monday thirty minutes prior to the service at the church.
