Funeral services for Albert Sidney Watkins will be held at 11 A.M. , on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Midway Baptist Church with Bro. Gilbert Allan and Bro. Mark McDonald officiating. Burial will be in Midway Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 P.M. - 8 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.
Mr. Watkins, 64 of Newton, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Infinity Hospice in Marion.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of Midway Baptist Church. He enjoyed working on old cars, fishing, and deer hunting. He knew alot about electrical work and refrigeration, having worked at Rival. He enjoyed listening to gospel music and attending singings, and playing the keyboard. He enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife: Helen Baucum Watkins of Decatur; two daughters: Charlotte Ann Watkins of Meridian and Jennifer Marie Watkins of Decatur; one brother: Jimmie Dale (Glenda) Watkins of Brandon; three sisters: Audrey Stolp (Lorrie) Tingle of Haughton, LA; Gwen (Paul) Frazier of Stonewall; and Wanda (Jerry) Clifton of Ringgold, LA; his father-in-law and mother- in- law: Johnny & Eleanor Baucum of Newton; his brother- in- law and sister- in- law: Johnny & Paula Baucum, Jr. of Newton; a close friend: Bobbie (Sandra) Dean of Meridian; and a number of nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his son: Walter Calvin "W.C." Watkins, and his parents: Auvie Cranford "A.C." & Georgia L. Griffey Watkins.
