Funeral services for Arlie Mae Adams will be held at 10:00 A.M. , on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Poplar Springs Baptist Church in with Dr. James Spencer and Dr. David Rives officiating. Burial will be in Poplar Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 P.M. - 8 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home and thirty minutes prior to the services on Saturday at the church.
Newton County Funeral Home South, 100 Old Highway 15 Loop, Newton, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Adams, 84 of Newton, died Tuesday,July 17, 2012 at Anderson Regional Medical Center - North in Meridian. She was a native of Newton County. She enjoyed cooking and preparing meals, epsecially church functions at her church, Poplar Springs Baptist, where she was an active and faithful member. She was a hard worker, and enjoyed gardening. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She dearly loved caring for many children in the community who affectionally referred to her as "Nanny”.
Survivors include one daughter: Connie (Ralph) Aycock of Meridian; two sons: Robert Anthony "Tony" Adams of Newton and William Lamar Adams of Starkville; three grandchildren: Leslie (Josh) Mikell, Christy Aycock, and Robert Aycock, and his fiance: Ashton Lamoreaux, all of Meridian; one sister-in-law: Bettye Horn of Brandon; several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert M. Adams; her parents: Albert & Annie Jane Welch Horn; her brother: Albert Edward "Pit" Horn.
Pallbearers will be Paul Edwards, Joey Murphey, Billy Johnson, Rayphord Bounds, Bob Williams, Bo Clark, and George Harris.
Honorary Pallbearers will be William Lucy, George Harris, Jimmy Bounds, Frank Baucum, and Frank Leatherwood.
