Betty Jean Vance, 70 of Newton, died Monday, September 30, 2013 at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian.
Funeral services will be 2 P.M., on Friday, October 4, 2013 at Newton County Funeral Home - North Chapel, with Dr. Frank Harmon, Dr. David Rives, and Bro. Robbie Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Newton County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 5 P.M. - 8 P.M. on Thursday, October 3, 2013, and on Friday one hour before the fuenral at the funeral home.
She enjoyed working in her flowers, cross stitching, and knitting. Spending time with her two grandchildren were an important part of her life. She was a long time employee of The Newton Record. She was an active member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of over 50 years: James Edward Vance of Newton; two daughters: Gail Federick, and husband David, of Lawrence and Jeannie Hedrick, and husband, Eddie of Newton; two grandchildren: Bruce Hedrick and Allison Federick; her mother: Helen Phillips Duke of Newton ; two brothers: Johnny Duke, and wife, Jan of Brandon and Mike Duke, and wife, Kathleen of Jackson ; number of nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her father: John Duke
Pallbearers: Charles Kelly, Steven Kelly, Brian Kelly, Mike Strebeck, Andy Gardner, and Charles Thompson.
Honorary Pallbearers: Ed Cumberland, Billy Horton, Glen Pace, Davis Comans, and Mark Moore.
