Billy Joe Gressett, 70 of Chunky, MS, died Thursday, August 28, 2014 at his residence in Chunky, MS. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Newton County Funeral Home - South in Newton, MS. Burial will be in the Mississippi Veterans Cemetery, Newton, MS. Newton County Funeral Home, Newton, MS is in charge of arrangements 601-635-3200.

Mr. Gressett was a lifelong resident of Chunky, MS, he was a member of Chunky Baptist Church. He was a 42 year veteran of the United States Air Force, retiring as an E-9 Chief Master Sergeant. He will be remembered for his love of the outdoors. He had a diligent work ethic, especially when it came to gardening. He loved his wife and family and will be missed by all that knew him.

Preceded in death by his parents: George W. and Lucille Gressett; brother: George W. Gressett, Jr.; sisters: Shirley Maxwell and Alfreda Robinson.

Survivors include his wife: Sandra Puckett Gressett of Chunky, MS; sons: Scott (Patricia)Gressett and Anthony Gressett of Chunky, MS; grandchildren: Samantha Coleman, Leah Gressett, Cameron Gressett, Kourtney Gressett and Rowan Gressett; great grandchildren: Landon Wilborn, Alexia Coleman and Elliot Evans; step grandchildren: Levi Griffin, Micah Griffin and Erica Haus and one step great grandchild: Halle'Rae Haus; brothers: Charles Gressett and Alvis Gressett and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers: CMS Randy Harvey, CMS Tommy Brown, CMS Joe Speed, CMS Chris Butler, CMS Andy Vance and CMS Tony Collins. Honorary Pallbearers: All retired Chief Master Sergeants of the USAF.

Visitation will be held from 5:00pm - 8:00pm at Newton County Funeral Home South on Monday, September 1, 2014.
