Bro. John David West Sr., 84 of Newton, MS, died Saturday, July 13, 2013 at his residence in Newton, MS. Funeral services will be 2 PM ,Tuesday, July 16, at Newton County Funeral Home South Chapel in Newton, MS with Bro. Mike Everett, Bro. Wayne Sellers & Bro. Tam Maddox officiating. Visitation will be Monday, July 15, from 5 PM until 8 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in The Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Newton, MS. Newton County Funeral Home South, Old Hwy 15 Loop, Newton, MS is in charge of arrangements 601-683-2152.

Bro. West was currently serving as Pastor at Good Hope Baptist Church in Hickory, Moderator of Newton County Baptist Association, he supervised the construction of The Newton County Baptist Association building, helped start the Rose Hill Baptist Church, helped rebuild Mt Vernon Baptist Church after the original Church burned, member of V.F.W., was a Jailer for Newton County, & a Bondsman for Hampton Bail Bonding. He served as Pastor at Bayou Mason Baptist Church, Lake Village, AR, Darlove Baptist Church, Darlove, MS, Mt Vernon Baptist Church, Newton, MS, Warsaw Baptist Church, Crowville, LA, Rose Hill Baptist Church, Rose Hill, MS, Leaf River Baptist Church, Pineville, MS, Poplar Springs Baptist Church, Newton, MS, Duffee Baptist Church, Duffee, MS, Sand Ridge Baptist Church, Lake, MS,& Good Hope Baptist Church, Hickory, MS.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Wilma Myers West, Newton, MS; 1 son: John David West Jr., Newton, MS; 2 daughters: Kaye Ganann, Marion, AR & Renee Davis & husband Steven, Newton, MS; 11 Grandchildren; 15 Great Grandchildren; 1 Brother: T. W. West,Smithdale, MS; 1 Sister: Thelma Mullins, Boyle, MS; & Numerous Nieces & Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Thomas Addison West & Lillie Jane Ballard West; Daughter: Gloria Jean West; Grandchild: Katherine Lynn Davis; & 10 Brothers & Sisters.

Pallbearers: John David West III, Jonathan E West, Stanley C West, Joseph R Ganann, Joe Breland, & Cory Byrd. Honorary Pallbearers are Dillon Breland, Larry Ganann, Joey Williams, & Joshua Davis.
