Marvin Brown Harris, 86 of Decatur, died Friday, December 7, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. , on Monday, December 10, 2012 at Newton County Funeral Home North in Newton with Rev. Mark Vincent officiating. Burial will be in Newton County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 6 P.M. - 8 P.M. at Newton County Funeral Home North on Sunday, December 9, 2012.

He was a lifelong resident of Newton County, served his country during World War II in the Marine Corps. He was a member of Clarke-Venable Baptist Church. He was retired from the Newton Company where he worked as a sewing machine mechanic. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf as long as his health permitted. He was a charter member of the Decatur Country Club. He was a dedicated husband, and a wonderful father to his children and their spouses and their children.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Bailey Harris; his parents: Gressett and Fannie Freeman Harris; and his brother: Doris Harris
Survivors include sons: Britt Harris & wife Tina, of Decatur; Gary Harris & wife Natalie of Tupelo, daughter: Paula Dickson & husband David of Terry; 4 Grandchildren: Lindsay Dickson White, Andy Dickson, Paul Harris, and Michaela Harris; sister: Ruth Wells of Ellisville ; numerous nieces & nephews
Pallbearers will be Gus Vallas, Danny McGee, Don Cooper, Donald "Birddog" Walters, Rodis Shealy, and Robert Munn.
