Funeral services for Edward Lewis Rhodes, 82, of Gilbertown will be held Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at 2 P.M. from Toxey Assembly with Rev. Derrick Clark, Rev. Henry Lee, and Rev. Joseph Futral officiating. Military Graveside will follow in the Mosley Cemetery.
Mr. Rhodes passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013 at his residence. He was a retired Oil Field Driller and a United States Marine Veteran having served in the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife Shirley Rhodes of Gilbertown; sons Gary Rhodes of Tuscaloosa; Tyron Rhodes (Patricia) of Butler; Jeff Rhodes (Mechelle) of Doerun, GA; daughters Rhonda Morgan (Bruce) of Butler; Fran Sessions (Ed) of York; Debra Rhodes of Melvin; Rebecca Johnson (James) of Melvin; brother Andrew Rhodes of Sowilpa; sisters Ruby Busby of Creole; Gladys Chance of Prattville; Mary Buvalew of Fruitdale; 17 grandchildren Jason, Jes, Gary II, Christopher, Michael, Derrick, Tonya, Bridgett, Alana, Brandi, Shalisha, Ashley, Courtney, Heather, Whitney, Dana, and Wesley; 22 grandchildren Alyssa, Briana, Kristin, Olivia, Natasha, Kiersten, Anna, Rylie, Bailey, Kaleb, Alex, Will, Dakota, Jacob, Malachi, Hayden, Preston, Bryson, Dawson, Josh, Kyle, and Matthew; and a special great grandchild Shaelynn Mixon.
Pallbearers are Gary Rhodes, Tyron Rhodes, Jeff Rhodes, Christopher Rhodes, Ed Sessions, and Caleb Sessions. Honorary Pallbearers are Legacy Hospice, James Abston, James Johnson, and Stacen Stafford.
