Elouise Jay Garvin, 88, died Saturday, June 16, 2012, in Germantown, Tennessee, after a short illness.
She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for many years before joining Liberty Baptist Church. She retired from La-Z-Boy South. She volunteered as a Pink Lady at Newton Regional Hospital, now known as Pioneer Community Hospital, for over twenty years and was very active at Liberty Baptist Church until recently.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Demar (Bo) Garvin of Newton, her parents Rubin Marion and Nina Walker Jay, her sister Elizabeth Tillman, and brothers Harlan, Lavell , Qunion , and Clyde Jay.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie Jean Garvin Brown and husband, James, of Navarre, Florida, and Barbara Sue Land and husband, Robert, of Germantown, Tennessee; and three brothers, Clois Jay of Orange, Texas, W.F. and Douglas Jay of Newton.
She is also survived by five grandchildren and their spouses, Bob and Sherrill Land, Lesley and Andrew Price, Ashley and David Mathias, Lisa and Joey Mull, and Terry and April Brown, as well as eleven great grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Newton County Funeral Home - South Chapel, 100 Old Highway 15 Loop, in Newton, Mississippi, with Rev. David Jay officiating.
Visitation will be on Wednesday June 20, 2012, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Nephews will be pallbearers and the Pink Ladies from Pioneer Community Hospital will be honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Liberty Baptist Church, Bethel Baptist Church, or the charity of choice.
