Services for Mrs. Frances Haik Jordan will be held 3 pm, Friday, September 7, 2012 at Clarke Venable Baptist Church with burial in the Decatur City Cemetery. Rev. Mark Vincent and Dr. Stan Buckley will be the ministers officiating.
Visitation will be held 1 PM - 3 PM, prior to service time on Friday, September 7, 2012 at Clarke Venable Baptist Church.
Mrs. Jordan, of Decatur, died Monday, September 3, 2012 at Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston, Tx.
Mrs. Frances Haik Jordan, formerly of 4105 20th Street, Meridian, Mississippi, was very active in all parts of East End Methodist Church, having served as President of The Sussanah Wesley Sunday School Class, Superintendent of the Children’s Department and other areas.
She married Charles L. (Sonny) Jordan in 1975 and they resided in Decatur. She is a member of Clark Venable Baptist Church in Decatur, where she has served as President of her Sunday School Class, Hostess, Publicist Chairman and assembly leader.
Mrs. Jordan is past matron of Oakland Heights Chapter #241 Order of the Eastern Star, Meridian. She later became a member of Decatur Chapter #195, where she served as Worthy Matron of the Chapter many times. She served as the Grand Ruth of the Grand Chapter of the State of Mississippi, Grand Representative of Oklahoma and as Grand Representative to Iowa in Mississippi. She was selected “Mom” of the Delta Chi Chapter of Phi Kappa Fraternity in 1963 and “Mom” of the Deb Social Club in 1965. She was active in many various civic and athletic projects. She was Vice President of the Girl Scouts of America and served on the Mental Health Board of Meridian, Mississippi.
She was a member of B&PW Clubs, a member of the National Association of Bank Women, Inc., a member of The Bank Admistration Institute, Pilot Club, Meridian Little Theatre, Meridian Little Theatre Guild, past Board Member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, member of the Chamber of Commerce of Meridian and Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce in Decatur. She also served on the Red Cross Board, on other chairmanships, including the United Way. Mrs. Jordan was chosen as Decatur ’s "Citizen Of The Year" in 2009.
Sonny and Frances Jordan were also named “Family of the Year” by the Jaycess and Jacettes of Decatur.
Mrs. Jordan served for 20 years as Vice-President and Business Development Officer of Peoples Bank of Mississippi, N.A. and worked out of the Meridian Office. Later, after retiring, she and her husband Sonny were employed by Barham Funeral Home of Newton County for 4 ½ years.
Mrs. Jordan is survived by one daughter, Braxie Ann Haik and grandson Daniel Haik of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by one son, Mac Haik and wife Sunny; grandson Heath Haik and granddaughter Amber Kennedy and husband Chris and great granddaughter, Chloe Michel Kennedy all of Houston, TX.
Step grandson: Brandon Poynter and wife Karen of Missouri City, Texas; Step great grandsons: Blaine Poynter, Alec Poynter and step great granddaughter, Kasey Poynter all of Missouri City, Texas
Step grandson: Tommy Poynter and wife Cindy of Sugarland , Texas
Step great grandsons: Reid Poynter and Kent Poynter of Sugarland, Texas
Step grandson: Kevin Poynter and wife Denise of Houston, Texas
Step great grandsons: Austin Poynter, Peyton Poynter, Dylan Poynter all of Houston , Texas
She is also survived by three stepchildren: Jeanine Hamilton and husband Frank and daughter Jori of Lexington, North Carolina; Mark Jordan and wife Sue, and children Stacey and Jeremy of Gautier; Chuck Jordan and wife Ginny, children Charlie, Claire, and Laura Lee, of Florida.
She is survived by one great niece, Melanie Brown and family; one great nephew, Micheal Brown and family of Louisiana; a cousin, Susie Poss of Jackson, and a host of other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by Mother and Father, Jessie and Lee Colbert; and one sister, Millie Hudgins and niece, Mary Brown.
Mr. Joe Haik, was the father of her children, who passed away June 6, 1964, in Meridian and Mr. Charles (Sonny) Jordan passed away December 12, 1995.
Mrs. Jordan will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Mr. Charles (Sonny) Jordan.
She dearly loved the Lord, family and friends.
Heaven is now a much better place! We will miss her incredibly!
