GERTRUDE CAPERS, age 85, of Pennington, Alabama, born to the late Wallace and Rosie Bell Horn McNeeley, passed June 8, 2012 at Sumter Health and Rehabilitation, York, Alabama. Service of remembrance is Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1435 East 4th Avenue of York with Bro. Michael Washington officiating; Bro. Atkins Lewis, Elder. Interment follows in Woodall Cemetery, Pennington. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening (June 15th) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel.
Those left to cherish precious memories are: two daughters, Carolyn Capers of Pennington, Al., and Linda (Atkins) Lewis of York, Al; a son, Frederick Capers, Sr., preceded her in death; three grandchildren, Frederick A. (Yvonne) Capers, Jr. of Texas, Courtinee Tomila of Meridian, Ms. and Ebony Bernard of Orlando, Fl; four great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Irene Hill of Pennington, Al., a sister, Johnnie McNeeley and a niece, Florence McNeeley Geddie, also preceded her in death. She is further survived by two nieces, Marjorie Gaines, Palm Coast, Fl., and Patricia Alston; a nephew, Charles Alston of Tampa, Fl; a great niece, Anita P. (Robert) Clarke, Brooklyn, NY., and a host of great nieces, great nephews and other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
