James J. Gregory

Funeral services for James J. Gregory will be held at 11 A.M. , on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at Newton County Funeral Home - North Chapel with Bro. Jack Giles officiating.

Burial will be in Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Fearns Springs Community, Winston County, MS.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. -10:45 A.M. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Gregory, 90, of Decatur, died Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Lackey Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Winston County. He moved back here from the Mobile area over 30 years ago. He was retired from Illonois Central Railroad, where he enjoyed working for over 40 years. He was a member of the Church of the Way in Meridian. He served as Minister of Music in several churches in the Mobile Area. He and his wife, Estelle, enjoyed traveling throughout the entire United States.

Survivors include: wife of 31 years: Estelle Gressett Gregory of Decatur; one brother: Al (Flaudie) Gregory of Cartersville, GA; one granddaughter: Lindsey (Eric) Valderaz of Boonville; two great-grandchildren; four step-children: Donald Gressett, Betty Gressett Kennedy, and Danny Gressett, all of Decatur; and Johnny Gressett of Meridian; 11 step grandchildren; and 11 step great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife: Jimmye Burrage Gregory; his children: Karon Ellen Gregory, Larry Gregory, and Betty Lynn Holt; and his parents: John D. Gregory and Lorine Chappell Gregory.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Church of the Way, 7387 State Boulevard Ext., Meridian, MS 39305
