Jimmy Amis
James Carl “Jimmy” Amis, 70 of Timbo, Arkansas, formerly of Sebastopol, MS, died Wednesday, November 20, 2013. Jimmy was born February 8, 1943 in Sebastopol to the late John Carl and William Frances (Sharp) Amis. He is also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Madison Pope.

Jimmy served in the US Army. He was a lifelong home builder and farmer. He was a wonderful teacher for young people that he employed. He loved his walking horses, and enjoyed spending time outdoors quail hunting or fishing. Jimmy was an excellent husband, father, and grandfather, and would help out anyone in need.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon (Gilmore) Amis of Timbo; children Melanie Pope and husband Chris, April Melissa Lacy and husband Daniel, and Lance Parker Amis, all of Timbo; brothers Ed Amis and Patsy of Lake, MS and Robert Amis and Sandra of Conehatta, MS; sister Valrie Thrash and Terry of Conehatta, MS; grandchildren Shay Lewis, Colton Pope, Amis Pope, James Amis, Clay Amis, Grady Higgins, and Brody Lacy; and great-grandchildren Camberlyn Pope and Elizabeth Amis.

Visitation: Visitation will be 6-8 pm Friday, November 22, 2013 at Milling Funeral Home in Sebastopol. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, with Bro. Randall Creel officiating. Burial will follow in Sulphur Springs Cemetery.
