Jimmy David Knight
Services for Jimmy Knight will be held at First Christian Church at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6th, with Dr. Tom Sikes and Reverend Lea McCracken officiating. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mr. Knight, 72, died Tuesday, December 3rd at Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Jimmy was born on April 10, 1941, in Ellisville, Mississippi. He attended Jones Junior College and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi and the Louisiana State University School of Banking. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1958 until 1962. He was a former loan officer and Vice President of People’s Bank of Mississippi until 1982. In 1983, he began his career in the insurance business and was owner/agent of Nationwide Insurance Company. Jimmy was a loving, caring and giving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was especially proud of his grandchildren who affectionately called him “Big Daddy.”
Survivors include his wife, Donna Knight; his brother, Lonnie Knight, Jr. and wife Lorice; daughters, Melissa Knight Mann and husband Dennis of Cleveland, South Carolina; Alison Knight Lass and husband Doug of Madison, Mississippi and Leigh Stahnke Cross and husband Trey, of Meridian; grandchildren, Zoe Mann, Kane Mann, Tyler Gray and Chatham Cross and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Knight, Sr. and Lavenia Knight; brothers, Michael and Wiley and a sister, Louise Fox.
Pallbearers will be Kane Mann, Tyler Gray, Dennis Mann, Doug Lass, Trey Cross and Russell Knight. Honorary pallbearers will be his most special “Locker Room” friends at Northwood Country Club and Jim Williamson.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Dave Russell, Dr. Kary Whitehead and Dr. Bryce Turnage, and the loving, caring and awesome nurses in the Intensive Care Unit at Anderson Hospital.
