Katherine McCoy Sturdivant, age 81, of York, Alabama, was the oldest daughter of the Late George and Katie Wilson McCoy of York, Alabama. Katherine was married to the Late Johnnie Lee Sturdivant (May 4, 2009) for over sixty years. To this union they raised fourteen children, five sons and nine daughters. John and Katherine were most proud of their fourteen "Wall of Fame" which hung there fourteen college degrees from all fourteen of their children.
Service of rememberance will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 1:00pm from Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, Millville Road, York, Alabama with Pastor James Granger delivering the eulogy. Sis. Sturdivant will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time. Interment follows in the adjacent Mt. Herman Cemetery. After the committal service, the family will receive friends for the repast in the fellowship of the church. Visitation is Monday evening (Dec. 2nd) from 3-6:00pm in the Weathely Chapel. The processional leaves from the Sturdivant residence at 12:40pm on Tuesday.

(As a sister) She is survived by her brothers U.C. McCoy of Detroit, Michigan, Herman McCoy of Detroit, Michigan, Charles P. McCoy of York, Alabama, and sister, Carolyn Sims of Youngstown, Ohio, Donna ( Leroy) Tillman of Farmington Hills, Michigan, Deloris Joseph of Detroit Michigan, and Annie M. Lightfoot of York, Alabama.
(Mother of Mt. Herman Baptist Church) She was the mother of Mt. Herman and loved her Church and Church Family dearly. She worked timelessly with the Missionary Board, Courtsey Committee, Annual Homecoming, Pastor Aide Committee and Rainbow of Color Drive and Program until her death. Her last and recent 2013 Program, "Salute to Mt. Herman Veterans and Fallen Soldiers was a great church community success.
(As she smiled) She was the "Modear to over thirty six (36) grand children and twenty three (23) great grand children, and host of nephews, nieces, great and grand nieces and nephews as well as cousins and families and friends. She retired from Sumter County School System where she touched so many young people, families and friends.
