Kenneth Bynum

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 27, at 3 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery in Little Rock, Miss. Milling Funeral Home of Union in charge of the arrangements.

Kenneth Donald Bynum of Meridian, 87, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013.

Survivors include his wife, Verna Ruth Harrison; granddaughter, Sarah Bynum of Memphis, Tenn.; grandson Brandon Bynum of Ellisville, Miss., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bynum was born July 21, 1925 in Decatur, Miss. He graduated from Beulah Hubbard High School in 1943 where he was an outstanding basketball player and team captain. Mr. Bynum entered the United States Navy on August 17, 1943 and served for three years at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Fla.

Mr. Bynum received his Associate in Arts Degree from Meridian Community College in 1954. He was employed with Financial Institutions as manager from 1946-1961. He also worked in the financial department of Owen Brothers Packing Company for 18 years, and then joined Mosby Packing Company as a purchasing agent. Mr. Bynum retired in 1990. Mr. Bynum was a life-long member of Midway Baptist Church.

Mr. Bynum and his wife Verna Ruth Harrison have been married for 68 years. They were life-long residents of Meridian. Mr. Bynum was a faithful and loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by many.

Mr. Bynum was preceded in death by his mother, Nola Agnes Parks Bynum; his father, Nathan Clark Bynum; his brother, Jack F. Bynum and his two sons, Kenneth Buryl Bynum and James L. “Buddy” Bynum.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Midway Baptist Church, 4579 Old 8th Street Road Meridian, MS 39307.
