Keshawn Jamal Thomas, age 17, of Emelle, Alabama was born January 21, 1996, in Birmingham, AL, to the proud parents of Bro. Van and Sis. Bettie Thomas of Emelle, AL. He attended public school in Sumter County, where he was loved by many students and teachers.
He was a playful and kindhearted young man who professed he knew and loved the Lord.
Keshawn, age 17, passed away at Hill Hospital in York, Alabama on Tuesday, December 17, 2013.
Keshawn is preceded in death by his grandparents Flozell and Arthur Thomas, Sr. (Emelle, AL), grandfather, Sam Gaines (Cuba, AL) and an uncle, Eddie James Thomas (Emelle, AL).
Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from Sumter Central High School with principal Dr. Eric Hines offering words of consolation. Keshawn is to lie in repose one hour prior to service time. Interment follows in Cagus Cemetery, Cuba, Alabama. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Friday evening (Dec. 27th) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. Weatherly Funeral Home, York, Alabama, under the direction of Jacqueline Studdard Weatherly, entrusted with arrangements.
Keshawn leaves to cherish his loving memory: his devoted parents, Van and Bettie Thomas, Emelle, AL; a brother, Terrance Gaines, Cuba, AL; a grandmother, Nettie Gaines, Cuba, AL; six aunts: Arminta (Johnny) Sanders, Emelle, AL; Rosemary (Octave) LeDuff, Pontiac MI; Ollie Watson Thomas, Emelle, AL; Carrie Mitchell, Indianapolis, IN; Wanda (Mark) Johnson, Guntersville, AL; Mitzi Haku, Indianapolis, IN; four uncles: Arthur Thomas, Jr., Roosevelt (Cynthia) Thomas, and Clady (Madeline) Thomas all of Emelle, AL; and Andrew Gaines, Cuba, AL, and a host of cousins , teachers, and friends who loved him dearly.
Keshawn will be especially remembered for his kind spirit, witty attitude, and helpful hand.
