LEO JACK NIXON, age 80, of the Morning Star community of Cuba, Alabama, passed April 2, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, April 9, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. from Morning Star Baptist Church with Pastor DeWayne Watson delivering the eulogy; Rev. Willie Wilson is church pastor. Interment follows in the Gibbs Family Cemetery, also Cuba. Mr. "Jack" will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time. Visitation is scheduled for Friday evening (April 8th) from 3-6:00 p.m. at the Weatherly Chapel. The funeral cortege leaves from the Nixon residence at 9:40 a.m. Saturday morning.
Those left to cherish precious memories are: a loving wife, Mamie V. Nixon, Cuba, Ala., seven (7) children- Mamie (Harry) Sanford, Bonnie Nelson (Arthur Russell), Lois Nixon, Tommy Charles (Linda) Nixon and Leo Nixon, Jr., all of Cuba, Alabama, Minnie Nixon, Laurel, Ms., and Doc (Mary) Lake of Choctaw County, Alabama; twenty eight (28) grandchildren; thirty (30) great grandchildren; two sisters- Minnie Lee Artis, Peoria, Illinois and Mayetta Hines, Tuscaloosa, Ala., one brother- Roosevelt Blakely of Atlanta, Ga; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who will truly miss him and loved him dearly.
