LILLIAN LOVETT MARSHALL KENNEDY, age 87, of York, Alabama, passed July 10, 2013 at her daughter’s residence in Birmingham. Lillian taught in the Sumter County School system for 38 years. She was a member of the Golden Circle #257, Demopolis; member of the Order of the Eastern Star, York chapter. She was married for 62 years to Howard E. Kennedy until his passing January 3, 2009. Service of remembrance is to be held Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from Mt. Powell Baptist Church of York, with pastor Wesley Winston delivering the eulogy. Mrs. Kennedy will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time. Interment follows in the Kennedy plot of Elmwood Memorial Gardens. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Monday evening (July 15th) from 3-6:00 p.m. with the 5-6:00 hour designated for the Wake. On Tuesday morning the funeral processional will leave from the Kennedy residence at 10:40 a.m.

Those left to celebrate her life and to cherish precious memories are: a caring, devoted daughter, Rosaline Kennedy Buchanan, Birmingham, Al., two (2) grand daughters, Lisa (fiance’ Terry Pickett) Felder, Birmingham, Ala., and Edrice Lovette Buchanan, McDonough, Ga., a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Kennedy, Anniston, Ala; three (3) great grandchildren, Megan and Chad Felder and Lauren Kennedy Buchanan; (5) step grandchildren; (8) step great grandchildren; (7) step great great grandchildren; one foster son, Robert (Shirley) Bradley, Linden, Ala., one foster daughter, Shawndreka Johnson, Birmingham, Ala., one sister, Helen Miller, Los Angeles, Ca., one brother, Willie Frank (Carrie) Marshall, Selma, Ala., (2) sisters-in-law, Mable Jones of New York and Rosa Bassett, Fairfield, Ala., one brother-in-law, Frank Kennon, Ward, Ala.,
Those who preceded her in death are: her husband, Howard E. Kennedy; her son, Raymond H. Kennedy who passed February 28, 2008; a granddaughter, Chelsea Denise Kennedy and one sister, Annie Savant. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and neighbors who loved her dearly.
