LULA LIGHTBURN, age 87, of York, Alabama, born to the late Joe and Survella Scott Williams, passed at her sister's residence in York on July 13, 2012. Service of remembrance will be Friday, July 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from Eastern Star Baptist Church, 112 Curl Road in the Grant City Community of York. Rev. Charles H. Delaine, pastor, is to deliver the eulogy with interment following in Eastern Star Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Lightburn will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
Visitation is scheduled Thursday evening (July 19th) from 3-6:00 p. m. In the Weatherly Chapel. After the committal service, repast is in the Fellowship Hall of Eastern Star. The funeral cortege will leave from the residence of her sister Mrs. Lucille Cannon, located 497 Atlman Street (York) at 10:40 a.m. Friday morning.
Those left to celebrate her life and to cherish precious memories are: one brother, John (Lestine) Williams of Kenner, La; four (4) sisters- Allie Warbington, Lucille Cannon and Mary B. Williams of York, Alabama and Dollie (Rudolph) Bryant of Detroit, Mich. She is preceded in death by her parents- Joe and Survella Scott Williams, her husband, Alfred Lightburn, four brothers- Richard, Lester, Frank and Joe Williams, Jr., one sister- Willie Miner and a companion, John Thomas. Other survivors include many nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
