Leola Harper Fillingane, 93 of Newton, died Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Bedford Care Center in Newton.
Visitation will be held from 5 P.M. - 8 P.M. on Wednesdsy, January 2, 2012 at Newton County Funeral Home, South Chapel, 100 Old Hwy. 15 Loop, Newton.
Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. , on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Newton County Funeral Home - South with Bro. Johnny Collins officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
She loved gardening and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband during their retirement years. She was an avid reader of the Bible and spending time daily with her Lord in prayer and daily meditation. She was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by: her husband: Milton Fillingane; parents: Bunyan and Lela Jay Harper; and six brothers: Roy, Alonzo, Ralph, Silas, Marion, and Sam
Survivors include: two daughters: Myrtis Foxworth and her husband, Thomas of Newton; and Vera Conrad and her husband, Steve of Union; one son: Walter Fillingane and his wife, Virginia of Hickory; three grandchildren: Brandy Gallup, Scott Fillingane and Josh Fillingane; two great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Lucy Harper of Newton; several nieces and nephews
Pallbearers are Bill Boulton, Ras Jones, James Miller, Leif Miller, Jason Conrad, and James Harper.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Meador and Curtis Goff.
