Leola Williamson Burton, 89, died Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. Mrs. Burton was a lifelong resident of the Hopewell community in Little Rock, Mississippi.
She was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church, where she served as church treasurer for more than
50 years. She worked at Peoples Bank of Union, now Regions, for over forty years. She was a graduate of
Beulah Hubbard High School and East Central Community College.
Mrs. Burton is survived by her son, J. Stan Burton and his wife Sheree Warnick Burton of Ellisville, her son, Tim H. Burton and his wife Joyce of Flowood, grandchildren Richard Burton and wife Julie, Dustin Burton and wife Robin, Kristal Burton, Elise Burton Graham and husband Jacob, Ellyn Burton, Aaron Burton, and Michael Burton, step grand-daughter, McKayla Rase, great-grandchildren, David Burton, Ethan Burton, Olivia Burton, daughter-in-law, Dale Herrington Burton, and sister-in-law, Ruth Beemon Williamson.
Mrs. Burton was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Ivan A. Burton, her son, Randy Ivan Burton, her brother, Earlie Edgar Williamson, and sister, Mildred Arlena Williamson, and her parents, Joseph Jermany Williamson and Nettie Harrison Williamson.
The funeral service will be held at the Hopewell Baptist Church in Little Rock, Mississippi, on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at 3:00pm with visitation preceding. Rev. Jimmy McDill will conduct the service.
Pallbearers were Richard Burton, Aaron Burton, Michael Burton, Johnnie Wright, Doyle White, and Dennis Miller. Interment was at the church’s cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Building Fund of Hopewell Baptist Church. The Burton family wishes to express its thanks to Mrs. Burton’s many friends for their prayers, support, and sympathy.
