Services for Mr. Mickey L. Yates will be held 2 pm, Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Milling Funeral Home Chapel of Union with burial in the Sand Springs Cemetery. Rev. Glenn Hayman, Rev. Randall Creel and Rev. Jackie Strebeck will officiate.

Visitation will be held 4:30 pm – 8 pm, Tuesday, July 09, 2013 at Milling Funeral Home of Union.

Mr. Yates, 47, of Decatur, died July 6, 2013 in Newton County.

Mr. Yates was an active member of Sand Springs Baptist Church. He was Chief of Greenfield Volunteer Fire Department of 23 years.

Survivors include:

Wife: Karla Yates of Decatur

7 Children: Julie Thompson of Raymond, Tyler Yates of Decatur, Josh Thompson of Raymond, Zach Yates of Decatur, Kaylee Yates of Decatur, Tyler Green of Decatur and Brandon Yates of Decatur

Mother: Nancy Yates Thorne and husband Curtis of Decatur

2 Step Brothers: Wendell Thorne and wife Vicky of Conehatta, Chris Thorne and wife Becki of Decatur

1 Step Sister: LeeAnn Henry and husband John of Union

He was also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Mr. Yates was preceded in death by grandfathers, Clois Kenneth Yates; Willie R. Walls and grandmother: Louise Leach Yates Walls.

Pallbearers: Members of Greenfield Volunteer Fire Department

Honorary Pallbearers: Britt Harris, Doug Hollingsworth, Scott Smith and all volunteer Fire Department members
