Nina L. Brown
Mrs. Nina L Brown, 83, of Meridian, died Monday, December 27, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Meridian. Services will be today at11:00 a.m. at Webb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev Jim Wall officiating. Internment will be at Friendship Cemetery in Columbus MS at 3:00 p.m. with Rev Andy Ray officiating.
Mrs. Brown was born Jan 31, 1927 in Columbus to the late Irby and Norma Leech. She graduated from S.D. Lee High School in Columbus in 1945. Nina married her High School sweetheart O.P. Brown on December 29th 1946. She was a devoted housewife, mother and very active in her church, Central United Methodist in Meridian and supported her home church of the same name in Columbus. She was a member of the Rae Hartley Sunday School Class, sang in the choir, past president of The Women’s Society of Christian Service and served with the United Methodist Women. An avid Bridge player, active supporter of The Little Theatre, and The Meridian Symphony Orchestra,
She was very active in the community as a volunteer with March of Dimes, Harmony House, Love’s Kitchen, and many others.
She is survived by her two sons, Bruce Brown and his wife Faye, and Grant Brown and his wife Katrina all of Meridian; two grandchildren, Cori Van Devender and her husband Jimmy of Brandon, and Raeanna Brown of Meridian; one great grandchild, Jay Van Devender of Brandon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, O.P. Brown; her parents, Norma J. and Irby S. Leech; sisters, Mildred L. Van Vliet and Elise L. Burks; and brother , Irby L. Leech.
Pallbearers will be surviving members of her S.D. Lee High School Classmates.
