Services for Ms. Shirley Ann Terrell will be held 3 pm, Friday, June 22, 2012 at Mt. Zion Methodist Church in Union, Ms. with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Johnny Mullinax will officiate. Visitation will be held 30 minutes prior to service time at the church. Ms. Terrell, 80, a longtime resident of Mobile, AL passed away on Wednesday June 20, 2012 at Uni Health Acute Care in Milton FL with her son, Joe by her side.
Shirley was born in Mobile, AL on December 13, 1931, to Albert and Margaret Doyle and was one of twelve children raised in Union MS, where she met and married the love of her life, Curtis Edward “Ed” Terrell, on December 18th, 1950 in Neshoba County. They moved to Mobile, AL to start a family and raise their three children, Eddie, Brenda and Joe. Shirley enjoyed camping vacations in the Great Smokey Mountains with family and friends and working in her yard. She was an avid bowler and joined several women’s leagues in Mobile and compiled numerous trophies over her bowling tenure. She also enjoyed square dancing and clogging with her husband and was a member of the “Azalea Reelers” square dance club and “Port City Cloggers”. She loved and enjoyed spoiling all eleven grandchildren, Mandy, Tony, Anson, Curtis, Byron, Diandra, Carmen, Kendra, Wyatt, Barbara and Bernadette.
She lost her husband Ed to a lengthy illness on August 15th, 1982, even through his death she remained devoted to him and remained widowed for over 30yrs. In the latter part of her life she did find comfort and companionship in her pet dog “Peanut”.
She is survived by two sons, Edward Earl Terrell, Joseph Alan Terrell (Martha Quezada Terrell), one daughter, Brenda Kay Terrell (Lowe) –Kenneth Lowe, 11 Grandchildren, 4 Great grandchildren, Ashton, Aiden, Avery, Barrett “Bear”, one brother, Claude Winston Doyle and numerous sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Milling Funeral Home of Union are in charge of the local arrangements.
