Funeral services for Thomas Paul McNeil, Sr., will be held at 1 P.M. Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Pouncey officiating . Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Newton County Funeral Home South, 100 Old Highway 15 Loop, Newton, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McNeil , 76, of Newton, died Sunday,February 20, 2011 at his home. He was born and raised in Smith County. He graduated from Pineville High School. He was a US Army veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a machinist in the Jackson area for many years. He was a retiree of MDOT. He was an active member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He was well known in the community for helping others with his carpentry talent, and his handy man skills.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Son McNeil and Rhoda Myrick McNeil and his father-in-law: Levoy P. Jones, Jr.
Survivors include his wife: Sandra McNeil, Newton; his children: Thomas P. McNeil, Jr. , Brookhaven; Kim McNeil (Ralph) Macy, St, Peters, MO; Randall L. (Kristie) McNeil , Raleigh; Richard D. (Kim) McNeil , Brandon; and Tim W. (Sherri) McNeil , Taylorsville; his step-children: Carol J. (Shane) Fulford, Zionsville, IN; Daniel Shane Jay, Guyton, GA and Kimberly I. (Scott) Lindley, Petal; his mother-in-law: Irene Jones, Newton; his brothers: Burlon (Darlene) McNeil, Pineville; Carey (Betty) McNeil, Pineville, MS and Garland (Patricia) McNeil, Forest; his sisters: Faye (Dwight) Bostick, Preston; and Sue (Vince) Langford, Brandon; 12 Grandchildren; 5 Step Grandchildren Several Nieces and Nephews
Pallbearers will be: Trey McNeil, Cole McNeil, Slater Thompson, Nicholas McNeil , Ran McNeil, and Charlie McNeil.
Visitation will be held from 5 P. M. - 9 P.M., Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the funeral home.
