Funeral services for Virgie Nell Stanford, 87, a resident of Marion, Mississippi and former resident of Choctaw County, Alabama will be held Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11 A.M. from the Chapel of Bumpers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Butler City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Ms. Stanford passed away Thursday, September 20th at Bedford Care Nursing Home in Marion, MS. She was born May 7, 1925 in Crandall, Mississippi to Voyd and Ola Todd.
Ms. Virgie Nell worked at the Choctaw Drug Store in Butler for many years and retired from the meat market at Piggly Wiggly in Butler.
Survivors include sisters Eva Carmichael and Viola Williams, both of Meridian; sister-in-law Donnie Todd of Newton, MS; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Voyd and Ola Cox Todd; husband Julian Stanford; son Rodney Stanford; brothers Frank Todd and Jimmy Todd and sister-in-law Jean Todd.
Pallbearers are Billy Carmichael, Larry Williams, Terry Williams, Greg Williams, Tony Todd, Kenny Todd, Rodney Todd, Randy McDonald, and Todd Hughes. Honorary Pallbearer is Bruce Todd.
