Funeral services for W. C. Chapman, Sr. will be held at 2 P.M. on Friday, July 27, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church in Newton with Bro. Gary Felton officiating.
Burial will be in Newton County Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held from 12 P.M. - 1:45 P.M. prior to the services at the church on Friday.
Mr. Chapman, Sr., 71 of Newton, died Thursday,July 26, 2012 at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. He was a 32nd Mason, a member of the Evergreen Lodge at Decatur, and a Shriner at the Hamasa Temple in Meridian. He enjoyed being around people, especially being the "Exiter" at Wal Mart in Newton. Most people knew him as "Cowboy." He loved camping, motorcyles, fishing, skiing, and most of all his family. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church. He loved life in general and will be dearly missed.
Survivors include: his wife of over 50 years: Laverne Williams Chapman of Newton; his children: Tanja Chapman, and her fiance', Thierry De Cort of Covington, LA; Tonja Chapman of Newton; William C. "Chuck" Chapman of Newton; and Teresa Reeves and her husband, Michael of Decatur; six grandchildren: Wendie Mangum of Decatur; Tasha Shimfessel and Cody Buckley, both of Chunky; Jessica Ryan Chapman of Leesburg, FL ; Jeremy Ryan Buckley of Hickory; Rebekah Hope Buckley of Decatur; four great-grandchildren: Myles Mangum and Max Mangum, both of Decatur; Evan Isaiah Shimfessel and Raya Star Dillard, both of Enterprise; three sisters: Dot Gould of Newton; Ruby Smith of Jackson and Nell Howard of Pottsville, AR; several nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents: Walter and Estelle Barrett Chapman and one grandchild: William Drake Chapman.
