William N."Bill" Montgomery

Funeral services for William N. “Bill” Montgomery will be held at: 10:00 A.M. , on Friday, July 20, 2012 at Newton County Funeral Home - South Chapel with Rev. Charles Bonner, Dr. Bryce Evans, and Rev. Billie Ray Gibbs officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 P.M. - 8 P.M. on Thursday, and on Friday thirty minutes to the services at the funeral home.

Newton County Funeral Home South, 100 Old Highway 15 Loop, Newton, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Montgomery, 81 of Whitfield, formerly of Newton, died Tuesday, July 17, 2012. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was talented in making furniture and wood working. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and hunting. He enjoyed working in his church, Poplar Springs Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School Director and teacher, Training Union Director and teacher. He also taught a weekly Bible study at Bedford Care Center as long as his health permitted. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict, where he was a lineman. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 89, where he enjoyed cooking the annual stew.

Survivors include: two daughters: Lynn (Steve) Stephens of Pearl and Rhonda (Gary) Rusche of Boliver, MO; one son: Kevin Montgomery of Rowlett, TX; three sisters: Barbara (Fred) Read, Beverly (M.L.) McNeil, and Linda (Tommy) Diaz, all of Louin; two brothers: James (Doris) Montgomery of Louin Otis Montgomery of Lorado, TX; grandchildren: Cory (Krissy) Stephens,Ryan (Kathy) Stephens, Joshua Robertson, Benjamin Robertson, and James Robertson; great-grandchildren: Brayden Stephens and Emma Stephens

He was preceded in death by: his wife of 54 years, Eula Mae Montgomery; his parents: George T. & Lila Peavy Montgomery; and his brother: Buster Montgomery.

Pallbearers will be Cory Stephens, Ryan Stephens, Joshua Robertson, Benjamin Robertson, James Robertson, and Dustin Harris.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The Gideons International, P.O. Box 297, Newton, MS 39345 or The Baptist Children’s Village, P.O. Box 27, Clinton, MS 39060.
