Ellisville aldermen have cleared the way for the sale of beer and light wine within city limits. Aldermen approved an ordinance Tuesday.
Residents of the Jones County town voted 367-313 in October to repeal the city's alcohol ban.
The Hattiesburg American reports that the ordinance permits the sale of beer and light wine on Sundays between 1 p.m. and midnight.
Monday through Saturday hours are from 7 a.m. and midnight. Restaurants are allowed to sell beer between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m.
Businesses selling beer must be at least 300 feet away from churches and schools.
