French Toast with Cranberry-Orange Syrup
This is a delicious recipe to serve around Thanksgiving for breakfast, utilizing cranberries that are very popular this time of year.
Ingredients
8 slices dry French bread
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
2 oz. butter
1 can cranberry sauce
1 cup orange juice
1 Tbsp. orange zest
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
More butter for melting on toast
Salt and pepper
Directions
1. In a bowl, whisk together eggs and milk and add 1 tsp. salt and pepper to make the egg wash.
2. For the syrup, in a medium saucepan simmer cranberry sauce, orange juice, brown sugar and orange zest for 15 minutes. Set aside and cover.
3. Heat up a large skillet on medium high and melt butter. Dip French bread in egg wash, then fry until golden brown on both sides; about one minute a side.
Serve with lots of butter and cranberry-orange syrup.
