Chocolate Pound Cake

Ingredients

Cake



  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 cups plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 cup sweet milk
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla



    Icing



  • 1 box confectioners sugar, sifted
  • 3 to 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Vanilla flavoring

    Directions

    1. Cream butter and sugar together, add eggs one at a time.



    2. Mix flour, baking powder and cocoa. Add alternately with milk. Add vanilla.



    3. Bake in tube pan at 325° about 1 hour and 15 minutes.



    1. For icing, mix well and spread on cooked cake.
