The Meridian School Board has approved a bid for a new ninth grade building at Meridian High School.

Chris Albritton Construction of Laurel, Miss., was the low-bidder at $9.52 million.

Officials say the amount is in line with what was approved in a bond issue.

Groundbreaking is set for mid-May, with completion in time for the start of school in August 2009.
