The Meridian Public School District is one step closer to hiring a new superintendent.
The board met Saturday morning at the Hilton Garden Inn to begin interviewing the finalists for the job. The position has been advertised locally, regionally, and nationally, something which the board believes will lead to a quality hire.
"We've never done this and we're just getting ready to do the interviews so I'll know a lot more as the day progresses. Our consultant has said that this is one of the finest lists of potential candidates that they've had for any search they've done," said Fred Wile - President, Meridian School Board.
The position is open due to current superintendent Sylvia Autry's pending retirement. Her term ends June 30. Her replacement will begin July 1.
