A large crowd was on hand Tuesday at T.J. Harris Elementary School in Meridian. Certificates and medals were presented to students who make honor roll.

Principal Amy Carter said the school also wanted to thank outstanding parents and volunteers for helping make the school year a success.

"We're also celebrating over 200 students who have made Principal's list by making all A's this year in their academics, as well as their behavior," said Carter. "And we're celebrating students who made honor roll, and they stayed on the AB honor roll list all year."

"It's such a great honor. It says that at least in the eyes of this particular school that we have done something that made a difference in this community," said District 4 supervisor Joe Norwood, Harris' Community Member of the Year. "And that's what we're really all about."

Parent of the Year for the upper campus is Deltrick Hill. James Lloyd is Parent of the Year for the lower campus.
